How big is the S+ unit?

The S+ frame is 4.2” x 2.1” x 8.1” (10.7 cm x 5.3cm x 20.6cm)

The pod is 3.7” x 3.7” x 2” (9.4cm x 9.4cm x 5cm)

Does the unit make any noise?

No. S+ operates silently, unless you are using the Smart Alarm, Relax to Sleep or Relax Daytime features. Using these features results in sound from the smart device used to run the S+ by ResMed app.

Does the unit have any lights on it?

Yes the pod has 1 LED light on the front it. Depending on the mode S+ is in, this front-left LED light can either be green, yellow, red, or off.

Will the LED light stay on when I’m asleep?

No, the LED light will fade out 15 seconds after you start your sleep-tracking session. This ensures minimal disruption to your sleep.

Do I need a smartphone to be able to use S+?

Yes. S+ works with select Apple® and Android™ smartphones. Here are the compatible phones and operating systems

  • Apple® smart phones: iPhone® 4, 4s, 5s, 5c, 5, 6, 6+.
  • Apple® operating systems: iOS 6 and iOS 7.
  • Android™ smart phones: Samsung S3, S4, S5, Note 2, 3 and Moto G.
  • Android™ operating systems: 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich); 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 (Jelly Bean); and 4.4 (KitKat).

*iPhone® users, please go into Settings/General/About/Version to check your operating system.

Is S+ compatible with my iPad®?

S+ is fully compatible with iPad Mini™ and iPod touch® (5th generation) and the USB power supply unit provided with S+ can also be used to charge these devices.

S+ will also function on iPad® 2, 3, or 4 and on iPad Air™, but you must use your own tablet power supply unit and cable to charge any of these devices.

I have a Windows phone. Can I use the S+ unit with that?

No, there is currently no Windows application available. Only iOS and Android™ operating systems are supported.

How does the S+ unit connect to my smartphone?

S+ by ResMed uses Bluetooth® to connect. This enables your smartphone to connect to the S+ within a range of 32 feet.

How do I reconnect my S+ to my smartphone?

Your smartphone should automatically reconnect to the S+ after you have successfully paired once, assuming Bluetooth® is activated and visible on your smartphone.

However, you can also connect by simply tapping the red S+ unit icon on the top right corner of the app’s home screen. You will then be prompted to connect your smartphone with the S+ unit. The app’s S+ unit icon and the LED light on the S+ unit will turn green and remain green when your smartphone is paired with or connected to the S+ unit.

Can the power supply unit charge my smartphone or tablet?

You can use the power supply unit provided with S+ to charge your compatible smartphone with your own phone charging cable. (The phone charging cable is not supplied.) The power supply unit is only compatible with charging cables that have a USB connector. We do not recommend that you use the power supply unit or cable to charge your tablet.

Can the USB power cable with my S+ be used with my other electronic devices?

No, the USB power cable supplied with the S+ should only be used with the S+ unit itself. It is not designed to function with any other electronic devices.

I have lost the USB power cable supplied with my S+ unit. Can I use another power cable from an alternative electronic device with my S+?

No, you must only use an official S+ USB power cable to power the S+. Replacement USB power cables are available for purchase.

I’m going on a trip. What should I know about traveling with my S+ unit and can I use the pod without the frame?

Your S+ is portable. The pod and its frame have been designed so that the pod can be removed and used without the frame. This is especially useful when traveling, to reduce the storage space needed for the unit. When using the pod without the frame, make sure you position the base of the pod slightly above the level of the mattress to ensure it can monitor your sleep properly. You must always use the power supply unit and cable provided with your pod.

If I change time zone, will S+ show me my sleep data using the local time where my sleep was tracked?

No it will not. If you change time zones, your sleep data will be shown in the local time of the time zone you are currently in, as opposed to the local time where your sleep was tracked. It will always show the local time of your current location.

How do I transfer my data from my S+ unit to the website?

The site is optimized for the following current browsers: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. The site will be optimized for all web browsers released from April 2013 onwards.

The internet access in my bedroom is unreliable or does not exist. Can I still use the unit?

Yes. You do not need internet access to record your sleep session and transfer the data to your smartphone for processing. However, you do need to connect your smartphone to the internet to be able to receive personalized suggestions. You will also need to connect to internet access for registration and creation of your profile initially. A 3G, 4G or WiFi connection will work to receive customized suggestions.

Does my smartphone need an internet connection to work with the S+ unit?

No, not while tracking your sleep. A Bluetooth® connection is however required to pair/connect the smartphone to the S+. The phone needs 3G, 4G, or WiFi in order to be able to receive the feedback and suggestions from the S+ Mentor and for any firmware updates in the future.

Do I need WiFi to download the App?

Yes, the app is large and does require WiFi to be downloaded.

Do I need WiFi to use the app?

You do not need WiFi to use the app. Most features, with the exception of the S+ Mentor, do not require the use of WiFi to function properly. You will still be able to carry out basic sleep analysis. However, you will need WiFi to download the app. To receive personalized suggestions, you’ll need WiFi, 3G, or 4G.

I have limited data on my phone/network plan/contract. Can I turn off the internet transfers when I am not in a WiFi area?

Yes. S+ will need an internet connection (WiFi, 3G, or 4G) to give you customized feedback and suggestions and allow you view your data online. But you do not need an internet connection to carry out the basic sleep analysis.

How much will it cost me to run the app and send the data over a mobile data network?

This will depend on your internet package. The app will upload approximately 2MB per night.

I spilled tea/coffee/water on my S+ unit. Will it still work?

Avoid spilling any liquid on the pod, power supply and cable. If a spill does occur, proceed with caution. If you have any doubts, do not use the unit.
